Where is the
Center?
The Center is located on the fourth floor of the Euclid Plaza
building sitting on the corner of Euclid and Delmar streets in the
Central West End. The Center is in Suite 420.
What is in the
Center?
The Center has two meeting rooms, a library/resource center, and a
lobby lounge. This is a start to a more grandeous plan.
What
activities will there be?
We plan to have rooms available for community organizations to have
their meetings and activities. The Center itself plans to have
community support groups along with workshops. In addition, we look
forward to having special events.
When and
how did the project begin?
After The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force held their Creating
Change Conference in November 2004 in St. Louis, the Creating Change
St. Louis Host Committee and the St. Louis LGBT community got together
through the efforts of the local co-chairs of the St. Louis Creating
Change Host Committee to talk. We had an old fashion Town Hall meeting
to discuss what we wanted as a community. One of those things was a
community center, a home. Out of that meeting a committee was formed
that has been working diligently to make that happen. And it is
happening.
Who is working
on the Center?
The Executive Director is Muriel Jones, also known as Blue. Our
Communications Director is LaShana M. Lewis, also
known as Shän. We also receive help and assistance from interns and
various community volunteers. Also heavily
involved, is Scott Emanuel. We also have to give recognition to our
donors.
Are donations
to the Center tax-deductible?
Yes. The Center is a 501(c)3 corporation, so every donation
given to the Center is tax-deductible.
Why
did the Center change from monthly meetings to a newsletter?
While in the final stages of establishing the location, programs, and
events for the Center, we decided that a newsletter would be a more
effective and efficient mode of communication about the progress of the
Center project to the metropolitan St. Louis LGBTA community.

do I give my input to the Center?
